Growing Pains is about young people who become swept up by an uncontrollable influence . This piece was created from my ruminations on growing up fast in a small border town. It’s about a rube on Bourbon Street, a friend with a cracked skull, pregnant teenagers, hidden stashes, and third grade Ferny who bicycled down the street with a cigarette in his mouth. It’s about being unprepared for the unfamiliar and shedding former comforts, it represents the appeal of maturity to those who feel pressured to change.
